Timeline
To better understand the migration situation in Italy today, we conducted an exercise in mapping the timeline of migration. This included analysing the correlations between various factors such as changes in policies, environmental factors, and networks of care and solidarity, particularly in Ventimiglia and Bardonecchia hotspots, towns on the border of Italy and France where people in transit attempt to cross the border everyday and are pushed back by the police using all means. In addition to mapping time-based events, we also gathered statistical data on arrivals, deaths, accidents, asylum applications, and average temperature to identify patterns. While looking for data from media sources, we also saw patterns in time where data was available or obscured.
